Although quite old, but really exotic n nicest lakeview. It is because of the first hotel in nearby Sarangan lake, so that the location was best chosen. We stayed in couple room no 11. The plus was a very goodview as photographed. The minus was broken interphone, no coffee-tea maker, CRT TV with no TV cable, no wifi in the room. The family rooms overlooking the lake are old school but spacious with great balconies and a fire. The place has so much character and the breakfast are excellent. We were fortunate to visit during the Asian games so watched the badminton on the TV in the long with the staff and played tenable tennis in the old bar. I hope more people visit this hotel as its a hidden gem and felt like stepping back in tomeDate of stay August 2018Trip type Traveled with familyRoom Tip Get the Suites with the great views of the lakeSee more room tipsThis review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The rooms are clean, yes in some places you could see watermarks but this is what you've seen on the review pictures. The hotels own kitchen is really good. The staff is friendly and kind, although English is a bit of a challenge. The hotel has ping pong table and other small items to spend your time with after or before your dinner. It gets very windy and cold at night but with the double doors in the room, it helps to stop the cold draft from entering the bedroom. The scenery of Sarangan lake is lovely in the evening and early morning where it is covered with mist. Read our transparency report to learn Rafael, CA96 contributions39 helpful votesThis hotel is an old colonial hotel that has definitely seen better days. It is dirty, run down, and has the cheapest possible furnishings in the rooms, such as a torn indoor/outdoor commercial rug, and a very old mattress, hard and with the springs digging into my back. There was no shower curtain or enclosure, filthy grout and soap scum, and grime on the walls. Broken lampshades next to the bed. Fluorescent lightbulbs for that industrial, interrogation room look. No hot water. The French couple that was using the WiFi in the lobby when we arrived was equally displeased, and when I asked if there was a problem with the wifi only available in the lobby, he said, "This whole hotel is a problem." Sadly, I agree. The view of the lake is spectacular, but that's the only draw. You can hear your neighbor snoring and the staff talking loudly at 5 am. The food is not great, and they hounded us to eat there, following us around with a menu and repeatedly telling us we had to order. When i said i wanted to eat somewhere else maybe, he said no, and indicated there was nowhere else to eat at the lake untrue. To add insult to injury, they have the nerve to charge 500,000 rupiah for the basic double rooms, more than we paid for our four star accommodation in Semarang the night before. Highway robbery. Aside from my wife and I and our two friends I think we were the only guests and had the place to ourselves. 360Ëš Panoramic View of the hotel - The pink and turquoise facade and the view of the lake is wonderful and worth staying just to experience the ambience of this setting. As far as room went it was pretty basic but fine for an overnight stay. There is a large dining room and ping pong table in the main building, a short walk from the rooms. From the garden there is a gate that leads to a path down to the lake. The lake, Telaga Sarangan, also known as sand lake, is a natural lake that lies at the foot of Mount Lawu, Plaosan district , Magetan regency, East Java. The lake is the district's main tourist attraction and attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. Around the lake, there are a number of hotels and cottages. Down beside the lake, there are souvenir shop and food vendors in the traditional market. Visitors can take joy rides around the lake on small motorboats, horse riding or walk around the lake. My mom booked the big annex with a fireplace. We had so much fun then. Now that I've had a family of my own, I wanted to take them to taste a piece of my childhood memory, so I booked the smaller annex for Dec 2013 vacation. To my surprised, the room nearly hasn't changed literally! Well, it really brings back old memories, but imagine...sitting on thin cushioned chairs, thin bed...oh, dear, this place really needs renovation. The good points are, it has beautiful view right outside the door, its room is clean, the breakfast and tea time snacks are delicious. My kids love it!Date of stay December 2013ValueRoomsLocationCleanlinessServiceSleep QualityTrip type Traveled with familyThis review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Breakfast are great and delicious. They deliver it to the room. Facilities are complete. Lake view from the hotel is beautiful too. The ambience is also peaceful even though it's not too far from the marketplace. This hotel is still the best option among others to stay in the neighborhood. Cons - building and facility are quite old. Needs restoration. - room is a bit dusty - price in peak season is quite high compared to others and considering the infrastructure of stay December 2013Trip type Traveled with familyThis review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
